We are offering a position for a PhD student (m/f/d) in Mineralocorticoid receptor signaling and cardiovascular epigenetics.
Mineralocorticoid receptor (MR) antagonists are well-established in heart failure therapy, however, adverse effects in the kindey preclude their use in many patients. Thus, we aim to develop new strategies to target the MR signaling pathway in cardio-selective way.
Our lab is focused on mineralocorticoid receptors in the cardiovascular system and their role in epigenetic and transcriptional regulatory mechanisms. We use innovative molecular biology and biochemical assays, cell culture techniques, flow cytometry and transgenic mouse models as well as state-of-the-art next-generation sequencing technology. Our group is embedded in the Institute of Experimental and Clinical Pharmacology and Toxicology and closely linked to the Heart Center of the University of Freiburg. We provide a stimulating working atmosphere in a competitive environment and are looking for excellent and highly motivated candidates to join our team.
Applicants should have an excellent degree (M.Sc. or equivalent) in pharmacology, molecular medicine, molecular biology, biochemistry or other related fields and a strong scientific interest. A solid knowledge of standard biochemical assays is absolutely required. Preferred candidates will have experience with chromatin immunoprecipitation experiments and/or flow cytometry.
